Flavored Water – A Healthy Drink To Quench Your Thirst

Sugary drinks like soda come with many health dangers.

Obesity, diabetes, hypertension, an increased risk for heart disease and a weakened immune system are some of many adverse health conditions that research show are associated with a diet high in sugar.

So to promote good health, it’s important you take a serious look at your own and your family’s sugar consumption.

To start with:

Avoid apparent sources of lots of sugar – such as sodas and other sweet drinks.

Please note that diet sodas or fruit juices are NOT a better substitute.

Diet soda intake is directly related to abdominal obesity and artificial sugar can cause other negative health issues as well.

Fruit juices are also loaded with sugar (fructose), and if they are processed they are devoid of most of the nutrients and fiber that the original, ‘real food’ fruit contained that enables your body to properly use it.

Did you know that if you swap out just ONE sugary drink a day you can cut your risk of type 2 diabetes by as much as 25 percent!

A much better drink to quench your thirst than sodas and juices is: Flavored Water.

All you need is water (purified), your favorite fruit, herbs and some ice.

Mix it in a glass jar or pitcher (avoid plastic ones). And voilá, you have just made yourself a healthy, refreshing, vitamin drink that will quench your thirst even a hot summer day!

After you have mixed the sliced fruit(s), herbs, ice and water – just leave it in the jar in the refrigerator overnight before serving.

Most of them are good for 24-48 hours.
